We welcome publishing proposals in language and literacy education (see descriptions of book series for more information about the kinds of books we publish). All works offered to us are carefully reviewed for their quality, suitability, and originality. Before you send us a full manuscript, please first send us a proposal. We will then contact the appropriate series editors or editorial advisors. The following questionnaire is intended to help us to assess your proposal in terms of intended readership, the market, and suitability in our publishing program.
In order to insure the quality of our publications, proposed manuscripts are subject to peer review. A decision on publication will be based on referee reports, series editors’ assessments, and market expectations. When a proposal is under review we ask you for the first option on the publication. All information supplied will be confidential and is only intended for our use.

Outline of the book
It is important for the evaluation process, and later for promotional purposes, to know the exact nature of your book. For this reason we would like you to focus on the following aspects related to the outline of your book:
• What type of book is it (e.g. case study, collection of cases, text book)?
• What do you see as the main selling points? Emphasize the original or unique aspects of your book in terms of content, style, and/or methods. Also be sure to mention your motivation and particular qualifications to write/edit the work.
• Include any new findings, theoretical developments, and/or or viewpoints that the book contains.
• If the book is a textbook, clearly mention the intended level and size of its target audience.
• Are you going to use the textbook yourself for a course, and do you know of other places where the book may be used?
• If your book is (based on) a Ph.D. thesis, explain how you intend to rewrite it. If your book is a revised edition, please list the main differences between this and the previous edition.
• Provide the table of contents and a concise description of the volume.
• Indicate the intended readership of your book.
• List any publications your manuscript is related to or will directly compete with. Please include author(s)/editor(s), title, publisher, and price if known

Possible reviewers of your manuscript
List up to three professionals in your field (with their addresses) who are qualified to read and evaluate your work. Provide names, addresses, fax numbers and/or e-mail addresses. We may or may not approach the suggested reviewers as we may be using our own network of reviewers or those suggested by our series editors.

Before you submit the book proposal be sure to keep a copy for your own file. Should your manuscript be accepted for publication we will contact you concerning contractual matters, submission guidelines and a further marketing questionnaire.

Please provide a print out of your submission materials and duplicate electronic files on disk. Electronic file names should start with the principal author/editors’ last name. Please do not submit these materials via email.
